Andrew VanNorstrand is an accomplished young singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Syracuse, NY. He has been fascinated with the fiddle and traditional folk music since an early age and began by learning a broad repertoire of Bluegrass, old-time Country, Western Swing, Appalachian, Celtic, Scandinavian and French-Canadian fiddle tunes by ear. Andrew started playing for contra dances with his brother Noah and mom Kim as The Great Bear Trio. He has become a leading figure in the modern contra scene and has toured all over North America playing various festivals and dance camps. |
| His most recent project has been The Andrew & Noah Band which blends the brother's mutual love for folk music with Jazz, Rock, Alternative, Americana and various world music influences. Andrew and Noah have spent the past twelve summers at Jay Ungar & Molly Mason's Ashokan Fiddle & Dance Camps, first as students, now as instructors. When he's not on stage Andrew is a very avid birder (quite possibly an understatement) and enjoys keeping various life lists of the species he's seen. He lives with his beautiful wife Sarah in a tiny house in front of an immense garden in upstate New York.
